It's Time for Change in Nova Scotias Energy Landscape

For too long, Nova Scotians have struggled with rising energy costs, outdated policies, and corporate interests prioritizing profit over people. I have personally met with provincial and federal representatives to discuss these pressing issues, and while the conversations have been insightful, progress has been painfully slow.

Regardless of who is in power, government moves at a snail’s pace. That’s why we can’t afford to wait for change.

At SPARK Atlantic, we have been researching energy models across Canada and worldwide—seeking real, practical solutions that prioritize Nova Scotians first. We aim to create a system that works for the people rather than maintaining the status quo, where power providers dictate terms with little regard for fairness.

The Problem

Nova Scotia Power, backed by its parent company, Emeraoperates in a way that protects its bottom line at the expense of consumers. When logical, innovative solutions to our energy challenges are blocked—not because they don’t work, but because they disrupt profits—it’s clear we have a broken system.

Enough is enough. It’s time to push for common-sense policies that ensure a stable, affordable, and fair energy future. Nova Scotia Power must recognize that its existence is owed to the people of Nova Scotia and that guaranteed profits and protected dividends should not come at the cost of our financial well-being.

The Solution: The Green Energy Exchange Association of Nova Scotia

I am excited to announce that the Green Energy Exchange Association of Nova Scotia has been approved; we are now seeking founding members to join this initiative.

The Green Energy Exchange will:

  • Advocate for a balanced, stable power grid—incorporating both traditional and renewable energy.

  • Lobby for fair policies that serve the best interests of Nova Scotians—not just corporations.

  • Challenge outdated regulations that hinder progress and affordability.

  • Push for legislative changes that ensure energy providers serve the people first.

This is more than just another organization—it’s a movement to regain control of our energy future. Now that we have approval, we are quickly structuring the organization and developing a clear policy framework.

If you are passionate about energy reform in Nova Scotia and want to be part of this effort, I invite you to join us. Please message me for details. Let’s stand together and make a difference.
